Role Summary
The Senior Safety Specialist will coordinate and implement the field safety program for routine and complex construction projects. This position will be responsible for conducting safety inspections, identifying and documenting abatement of hazardous conditions, writing reports and performing trend analysis. Environmental, Health and Safety Manager – Colorado Springs, CO
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for driving EHS compliance, best practices and results through continuous improvement processes and drive to World Class EHS performance. This position networks closely with the corporate EHS, the Plant Manager and the management team.

What You Will Do:
Maintain accurate and complete EHS and sustainability metrics and establish continuous improvement strategies to ensure short- and long-term goals and Allegion initiatives are met.
Prepares and communicates performance based EHS metrics and data that identify performance to objectives, trends, and EHS compliance of the facility.
Investigate and analyze all EHS incidents and identify root cause(s), contributing factor(s) and systemic causes. Drive on time corrective actions and proactive programs to prevent future incidents.
Organize Kaizens or similar events to detect, reduce or eliminate safety, health and/or environmental hazards through job safety analyses or other approved methods.
Support external and internal auditing processes, or EHS Kaizens, for other sites.
Serve as the Site Management Representative for the 14001 and 45001 certifications.
Obtain, update, maintain, and audit the site’s EHS Management System, procedures, plans, permits, and standard operating procedures. Develop and oversee effective emergency preparedness and response programs.
Management System Documents Control coordinator for site documents, corrective actions, and internal auditing.
Partner closely with internal cross-functional stakeholders at all levels to communicate and gain alignment with the facility regarding EHS compliance risks and EHS priorities.
Create an open and accepting EH&S culture by engaging in multi-level communications with operators, front line leaders, supervisors and managers to encourage proactive reporting of safety incidents and concerns and implementation of actions to address those issues.
Partner with teams or project coordinators implementing change to ensure EHS risk assessments are conducted, and effective controls are included in the change management process.
Develop and maintain job safety analyses for routine tasks and implement effective controls to reduce risk where necessary.
Coach and mentor leaders to identify, assess, and control risk and positively reinforce safe behaviors.
Develop and oversee processes to ensure continual compliance of site’s wastewater treatment system.
Lead and participate in the facility safety committee. Prepare meeting minutes and communicate issues to plant. Create employee engagement through Safety Committees and other teams to reduce hazards and create a safer and environmentally friendly work environment.
Direct site environmental, health, and safety audits and inspections for applicable properties and communicate the findings, with recommendations to facility managers and other management.
Develop, coordinate and lead training and awareness programs. Manage the EH&S computer-based training database. Supervise and coordinate hands-on training and media that will increase awareness of safety and health practices and promote a safe workplace.
Develop, coordinate, and lead industrial hygiene programs and medical monitoring programs as required by local regulation.
Ensure timely and accurate submittal of regulatory and internal reports.
Oversee and support workers compensation program administration, including return to work programs and the site’s early intervention program.
Ensure compliance with Federal, State and Municipal EHS regulations, regulatory permits and Corporate EHS requirements including but not limited to Hazardous and Universal Waste, Wastewater, Air, DOT, EPCRA, RCRA, Storm Water, fire code, and OSHA. Stays current with pending regulations to ensure future compliance.
Interface with external regulatory bodies to ensure legal / policy compliance and participate in any subsequent communication to stakeholders within the business.
Support the Americas Regional EHS Manager and corporate EHS team in delivering EHS improvement at assigned sites.
Implement and enforce effective health, safety and environmental requirements and policies for contractors and visitors.
Manage the security contractor that provides services to ensure the security of the plant. Ensure proper surveillance, CCTV maintenance, and security procedures and procedures for the facility.
Manages the budget and equipment necessary to operate the EH&S Department. Maintain appropriate budgetary files and procurement files for the department.
Develop direct reports and set and evaluate goals and objectives for their performance to those expectations. Provide coaching and counseling, as needed, to keep personnel on track with objectives and development goals.
Manage accurate EHS team job descriptions and participate in succession planning by identifying and developing internal and external talent to fill critical roles in EH&S.

What You Need to Succeed:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, management, or related science with 5 years’ experience in EH&S is required.
Thorough knowledge of and experience with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other federal and state standards and regulations.
Master’s degree in management, business, engineering, or related science is preferred.
Knowledge and any experience working in manufacturing industry or similar environment is preferred.
Must have proven excellence in written and oral communication with the ability to develop and successfully implement strategic EHS programs for multiple service locations.
Must have demonstrated interpersonal and teambuilding skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of ISO 14001 and 45001 Standards.
Lead auditor training or internal auditor experience with ISO 14001 and 45001 Standards.

This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience. The expected Base Annual Range: $106,000 $187,700. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

Presentations on environment, safety, and health-related topics, across presentation types (case studies, new or emerging areas of practice, research, etc.).
