Our Chapter

Chapter-Charter-1962_Page_1-300x220The Southern Colorado Chapter (SOCO) of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) was formed on June 5, 1962 and is one of the older chapters in the ASSP. We are proud of our heritage and legacy as we have had two ASSE Fellow’s (George Huber, D.A. Weaver) that have come from our chapter and the National ASSE president in 2002-2003 year, Mark Hansen, was a member and past president of the Southern Colorado Chapter.

SOCO ASSP MISSION

Our mission is to offer an opportunity for safety professionals to meet other professionals and to share their experiences and knowledge with one another in an effort to promote safe and healthful working conditions in Southern Colorado.

The Southern Colorado Chapter is located in Region II of the ASSP society structure. This region is made up of the following chapters:

Our chapter meetings are typically held every other month and consist of either a facility tour of a surrounding business or technical presentations relevant to the environmental, health and safety field. These meetings are usually hosted and conducted in the Colorado Springs area although, there is a possibility that meetings could be held in other area of the southern part of the state. Check the chapter calendar for a listing of events and times.
